📖 Word For The Day: Honor Him With Your Life

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Good morning Kitwe Church.

This week’s Word for the Day will be coming from 1 Peter. I plan to take a few fundamental principles from 1 Peter for us to apply in our relationship with God, each other, and the world in which we live. Today’s Word for the day comes from 1 Peter 1:3.

WHAT:
The text reads: “ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

Notice first of all Peter directs our attention to God with the words “Blessed be the God and Father…”. Peter calls us to bless (or speak well of a God) for His gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then notice the phrase “he has caused us to be born again.” It is God who has caused us to be born again. He gets all the credit for this new life we enjoy with Him.

So here is today’s principle: God gave to us this new life, and we should honor Him with the life He gave us.

SO WHAT:
For the rest of this week, we’re going to take specific principles from 1 Peter that call us to live out this new life for the honor and glory of God.

For today, let’s reflect on the truth that God causes us to be born again. As we reflect on that reality, we might ask the question “so what should I do with this life now?”

To help answer that question turn in your Bibles to John 15:16. Here, Jesus gives us a broad answer to the SO WHAT question. Take note that Jesus chose and appointed us to “go and bear fruit”. Earlier in John 15:8, Jesus told His disciples that “By this, my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” Do you see that God caused us to be born again so we can glorify Him with the life He gave us

NOW WHAT:
I will close with a question: Let’s ask ourselves do I have a self-centered faith or a God-centered faith? In other words, are we living a life that says “God saved me so I can go to heaven?”, or are we living a life that says “ God saved me to live forever to glorify Him”. We will look at a few principles this week that tell us how we might learn to live this life He gave us to glorify Him.
