Word For The Day: Covenant Relationships
This week we are reviewing what it means to be a member of Kitwe Church and how it guides us in “Growing Together In Christ.” A covenant is a contract between two parties that include rights and responsibilities.
Our Church Covenant begins, “we do now in the presence of God, and this assembly solemnly and joyfully renew our covenant with one another as one body in Christ.”
As members of Kitwe Church, what is our responsibility to others?
In relation to those in our home:
“We will endeavor to bring up those under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and by a pure and loving example, seek the salvation of our family and friends.”
We must seek the salvation of family and friends and take responsibility to disciple those who believe in Jesus. We joyfully embrace the responsibility to bring up our children in the Lord.
Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
In relation to our personal relationship with God:
“We will pursue a living relationship with God through the reading and application of His word.”
This means we will make personal, daily devotions a part of our life? Did you spend time in the Scriptures and prayer this morning?
Acts 17:11
Now, these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.
In relation to our community:
“We will walk wisely in the world, be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our conduct.”
Colossians 1:10
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
In relation to the relationship with our fellow man:
“We will seek to pursue peace with men and holiness before God.”
Romans 14:19
So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
Our inclusion in the family of God through faith in Jesus is a beautiful blessing, privilege, and responsibility. Let us pray for and encourage one another to live as a covenant community at KC.
God bless you as you pursue Him today!
Love you all…
