Word For The Day: God’s Unfailing Presence

Do you ever feel alone? People are all around, but in your pain or loss, you feel alone. Fear may grip your heart, and your senses scream for you to get away, to escape!

This week, we have been learning how to Trust God Even When Life Hurts. God’s love is unfailing, and His grace is always sufficient, and here is even more good news! God is present with us in our troubles.

God does not just send help from heaven when we are in distress, danger, or going through a difficulty; He comes personally to help us! God is present with you!

“Do not be afraid… for I myself will help you.”
Isaiah 41:14

God does not promise to spare us sorrow, heartache, or trouble. These are those things that conform us to the image of His Son, Jesus, but he does promise to be with us as we pass through these trying times!

“When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
For I am the Lord, your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:2-3a

Go back and read that again! Do you see what God says? “When you go through” these things. Deep waters, rivers of difficulty, and fires of oppression will come into the life of God’s children. But here is God’s unfailing promise: “I will be with you every step of the way!” It may seem that your situation, there is no end in sight, but take courage today, He is walking with you “through” these situations. You will come out the other side with Him!

Sometimes trials are a result of our own foolish or sinful decisions. At other times, our trials are from external sources that we cannot control. We may, in those moments, feel alone, afraid. But regardless of the cause of our problems, God assures us that He is there and is going through these difficulties with us.

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10

Often, when we face the most painful adversity, we experience the most delightful manifestation of God’s love. Christ identifies with us in our distress. As we get to know Him, our trust in him grows. “So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6).

So, whatever you are facing, trust in God! His love is unfailing, His compassionate grace is endless, and he is present with you! When you believe these truths, your heart will rejoice!

But I have trusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.
Psalm 13:5-6
