The Servant Life of a Christian
On Sunday evening, 2 August 2026, Ps Simon Chilongoshi challenged us on what servanthood for the Christian looks like. He preached from Matthew 20:20-28 that true greatness in Christ’s kingdom comes not through seeking status or position, as the mother of Zebedee’s sons attempted, but through humble servanthood — following Jesus’s own example of coming “not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

On Sunday morning, 19 July 2026, Ps Phil Hunt preached on Romans 13:8-14. He explained that Christians often mistakenly treat love as something that can be “settled” through a single act of kindness, when in fact Scripture calls for perpetual, self-sacrificing agape love toward believers, unbelievers, and even enemies. Because Christ’s return is near, believers must “wake up” from spiritual complacency and cast off sin rather than delaying obedience.

On Sunday morning, 12 July 2026, Ps Phil preached from Romans 13:1-7. He argues that all civil authority—however corrupt or inefficient it may seem —is ultimately established and governed by God Himself, who raises up and removes rulers according to His sovereign purposes. Ps Phil urges believers to pay taxes and show respect without resentment, to pray for their leaders by name, and to trust that God sees every injustice and will hold every authority accountable in the end.

On Sunday morning, 14 June 2026, Ps Phil Hunt preached a sermon on Romans 12:1–2, where he calls Christians to respond to God’s abundant mercy by presenting their entire selves to God as a living sacrifice — not as a command, but as the only reasonable act of worship for those who have truly grasped what God has done for them in Christ. He then warns against being “conformed” to the values and thinking of the world, and instead urges believers to undergo a deep internal transformation through the daily renewing of their minds by God’s Word and Spirit. The fruit of this consecrated, transformed life, he concludes, is a discerning mind capable of recognizing and embracing God’s will — which is always good, acceptable, and perfect.
